Aniela’s journey to become an acupuncturist happened after receiving care for chronic illnesses, as well as her mother’s loving insistence that she explore the profession. She was close to finishing her Bachelors of Science in nutrition from the University of Minnesota, and had recently decided not to go to medical school because she knew her health would suffer. She was at a crossroads where she didn’t know which way to go. Her mother’s acupuncturist had recently moved away, and frequently mentioned that Aniela should replace her. Her mom teased her enough that she researched the physical impact of the job on the practitioner, and the education required. It was a fit. She knew that acupuncture had always helped her in the past when it seemed like no one else could, and now she could use it to do the same for others.
Through the highs and lows of graduate school, Aniela found not only her new profession but also improved health. Since her clinical internships and graduation in 2023, she has vowed to help others afflicted with chronic pain. She and her husband opened her very own office, Alba Acupuncture, not far from her childhood home to serve her community.
